MARGAO: Following Police Department reports stating that anti-social elements with an intention of committing crime in Goa usually stay in hotels and rented premises under fictitious names, South Goa District Collector has directed all the owners of all such premises to verify the bonafides of the persons through their proof of identity and make necessary arrangements for entry of details of visitors.
District Magistrate, South Goa, Asvin Chandru A, has issued this order and warned of strict action if they failed to implement the directions.
Order states that as per the reports of the police, anti-social elements can camouflage their identity for their operations, which may be illegal or immoral and which may be required to be contained, as certain hotel owners have a tendency to rent out premises without verifying the antecedents of the person and information to local police.
No landlords, tenants, owner or person of any house or property which falls under the territorial jurisdiction of South Goa District, shall let out any accommodation to any person unless and untilhe/she has furnished the particulars of the tenants to the Police In-Charge of the concerned area, order stated.
The District Magistrate stated that In-charge of such accommodation shall provide such facilities for inspection of the maintenance of record in the Programme for Analysis of Traveller and Hotel Informatics (PATHIK) software by the Police authorities authorized by the undersigned, if so desired by them.
The DM has further directed that all the heads of nationalized Banks of south Goa District should deploy security guards for security of their ATM’s round the clock and also to install CCTV cameras.
This order has come into force from March 6, 2023 and will remain in operation for a period of 60 days (both days inclusive) unless withdrawn earlier. Violation of this Order is Punishable under section 188 IPC (disobedience to an order lawfully promulgated by a public servant).
