MAPUSA: 56-year-old Yasim Ansari, a victim of the Colvale scrapyard fire succumbed to burn injuries while undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College and Hospital on Saturday. The deceased was a native of Uttar Pradesh.
It can be recalled that on December 28, the deceased who was also the worker of the scrapyard had sustained injuries after major fire was broke out.
The impact of the fire was such that the fire fighting teams of five Fire stations had a tough time to bring the raging blazes under control and it took more than two days to douse off the flames.
Colvale police registered an offence against Rizwan Khan, owner of the scrap yard styled as “Rizwan Plastic Industries” and Ifan Rizwan Khan, Care taker of scrap yard, both residents of Duler, Mapusa for negligently storing the chemical empty drums in the scrapyard without taking proper care and precautions, thereby endangering human life and safety of the workers working at the scrap yard.
The Offence was registered under section 285, 337 r/w 34 IPC.
