Vigilance probe demanded against Garg

PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee demanded a vigilance inquiry against former Goa State Election Commissioner Choka Ram Garg, IAS by terminating his services and to immediately relieve him as Law Secretary for creating mess over ward reservation for municipal council elections, at the behest of the government.

The GPCC has written to the Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi and the Chief Secretary in this regard.  “It is the most disheartening and disturbing feature that the highest law officer of the State namely the Law Secretary should be not only flouting the Constitutional mandate but also bending and crawling to illegal diktats of the State government,” GPCC president Girish Chodankar stated.
