margao: Commenting on the results of the ZIlla Panchayat Polls, Goa Forward Party (GFP) President Vijai Sardesai tore into the Opposition party.
He said the results can be attributed to the people as they have decided to teach the persons who have compromised with the Government a lesson.
“A clear alternative could have been given to the people but that did not happen, and for that, the blame stops at the Opposition party,” he said, while adding, “To some extent, the BJP is right in taking credit. But, for loss who is responsible? That needs to be found out.”
GFP also warned the ruling BJP party in Goa not to take advantage of the mandate that they got in the ZP election.
Sardesai said the mandate is not to destroy Goa by railway double-tracking, making Goa a coal hub, selling Mhadei and selling Goa to private players.
“The anti coal, double-tracking agitation is a people’s movement that is out to protect Goa and that this mandate is not to push these environmentally destructive projects. The mandate to BJP is not the loss of the people who are trying to protect the State of Goa,” he said.
