Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has announced financial assistance of ₹25 lakh from his personal trust for the family of the 11-year-old boy from Sattari who allegedly lost his leg due to medical negligence at Valpoi Community Health Centre.
The announcement comes amid widespread outrage over the incident, which has raised serious concerns about medical protocols and patient care at government health facilities.

The minister also informed that a high-level committee headed by senior officials of the Health Department has been constituted to conduct a detailed probe into the matter. The committee has been tasked with identifying lapses in treatment and recommending safeguards to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The case pertains to the alleged improper medical management of the minor boy, which reportedly resulted in the amputation of his leg. Earlier, preliminary inquiry findings had pointed to procedural lapses, including the application of a plaster slab by staff allegedly functioning without adequate supervision.
The Health Department is expected to take further action based on the committee’s findings.
