PONDA: Ashok Gaude, the managing director of VPK Urban Cooperative Credit Society, Mardol, has been suspended for gross mismanagement of financial aspects of the society.
Gaude was suspended by Gurudas Pilarnekar, the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, who passed the suspension order after examining the report of a special auditor appointed by him. Besides the gross mismanagement of financial aspects, the report of the special auditor found Gaude in violation of the by-laws of the society and Cooperative Society Act. Therefore, Pilarnekar has also ordered further inquiry against Gaude.
Meanwhile, the order recommends that the senior most officer of the society be appointed by Board of Director as managing director. Further, the order directs that a special general body meeting be convened by the society within a period of thirty days from the date of receipt of the order for removing the Board of Directors.
The inquiry into the financial affairs of the society was conducted after two former directors alleged mismanagement of the affairs of the Mardol headquartered society, which has several branches across the State. The two former directors are Damordar Mardolkar and Umesh Naik.
Addressing the media on Saturday, Mardolkar and Naik said that the order of Pilarnekar was served on the society on November 1, as such, they demand implementation of the order.
Since receiving the order, Mardolkar said, the society has not taken steps to convene a general body meeting. Therefore, he called upon the society to take steps to convene the meeting while threatening to complain to the Registrar of Coop Societies, if the VPK society failed to convene the meeting.
