MARGAO: Water logging due to the continuous rains in the parking area of the new South Goa District Hospital at Margao has resulted in major hardships to the patients and public. No dedicated slot for parking inside the hospital compound has also forced the public to park their vehicles on the national highways.
Speaking to media, several locals and even a few patients have expressed anger and demanded immediate attention from the concerned authorities.
It has been observed that the whole area outside the hospital compound was flooding due to the incessant rains and muddy water leaves no space for walking. Patients and even pregnant women were witnessed trying hard to make their way.
Speaking to media Agnelo Furtado, a local of Fatorda, who had come to the hospital said, “There is no way out for the rain water accumulated over here to flow. Even gutters are not cleaned. These situations over here are disgusting.”
He further said there is no doubt that people are getting good treatment in the hospital, but the pathetic conditions outside the compound are unexpected. The concerned authorities should immediately find out some solutions to this mess so that people don’t suffer.
Furtado also pointed out one pregnant lady who was struggling to make way through the muddy water and charged the authorities for negligence.
“No dedicated parking place inside the hospital complex has resulted in parking on the national highway passing by. The district hospital authority should have allotted some area for the parking inside the compound,” urged Veena Naik, resident of Quepem, who had come with one of the patients at the district hospital.
