PANJIM: The taxi operators in the State have been unequivocally opposing the Goa taxi app. An unconvinced Suresh Parab from the Together for Mopa Taxi Association while in a meeting with the Tourism Minister had said that they will continue opposing the app based taxis.

Speaking on the Herald TV show Point COunterpoint, the All Goa Tourists Taxi Owners Association (AGTTOA) secretary Tulshidas Phadte said, “We oppose the app-based taxi services in Goa because the intention of the government is to let the business go into the hands of non-Goans and capitalists.”
AGTTOA president Chetan Kamat said, “We won’t join the Goa taxi app. The government is attempting to onboard taxi owners in the name of registration for Mopa taxi service.”
Yellow and Black Taxi Association member Sunil Naik said, “The conditions under which the yellow and black taxi operators work are not suitable for app-based operations. Yellow and black taxis are point-to-point services.
“We can drop a passenger at a certain place but cannot pick up any at the same time as it is not permitted. That is the reason we are opposed to the app and demand counter at the Mopa international airport.”
