MAPUSA: The Mapusa Police have booked three persons, including a lady identified as Branca Cassiana Diniz alias Branca Rodrigues in the Assagao land grabbing case, who as per records passed away on January 31.
It has come to light that even after Branca Cassiana Diniz’s death, she was found to have signed on almost five sale deeds. However, her signatures are found on almost five sale deeds, which transacted after her demise.
Similarly, it is also learned that the culprits involved in these fraud sale deeds, especially the three accused including Branca Cassiana Diniz alias Branca Rodrigues, Paulina Diniz alias Palmira Gonsalves and Mariano Gonsalves provided wrong addresses on all the sale deeds.
These cases are not only haunting the owners who have now found out that their names are already deleted from the one and fourteen forms but also the people who are genuine sellers or buyers.
Most of the deeds are inserted in the books of archives during the time of the pandemic, i.e since January 2021, and all these inserted deeds are not registered with archives. Branca Cassiana Diniz alias Branca Rodrigues is one of the names highlighted in most of the sale deeds. She died on January 30th, 2022 however even after her death, almost five sale deeds are found to be signed by her.
Fake sale deeds are transacted using fake and different addresses every time a sale deed is signed. For instance, those ‘buyers’ who claim to be from Cuncolim do not reside in Cuncolim anymore.
In some cases, it is found that the same group of people has acted as the original owners of the land while in some they have shown that the original owners have transferred their properties to them. Herald in its May 28 edition had reported that in the last few months, the cases of land grabs increased, especially in the jurisdiction of Bardez taluka where land is mostly owned by the Niz Goenkars. It is being transferred or sold using fake documents by different groups of people. Most of these cases are reported in Anjuna, Assagao, Siolim, Aldona, and Porvorim areas.
In most of these cases, it is found that sale deeds are found signed either after the person is dead or making a living person dead. In some cases, sale deeds are found signed by persons who are not even born.
