Wholesale fish market in a mess

Budgetary promise: The Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in his first budget speech promised to spruce up the messy Goa’s only wholesale fish market in the commercial capital. A budgetary provision was earmarked for the market turn around, but the sorry state of affairs continue to plague the wholesale fish market till date.

The promised funds had never reached the South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA).
Attempts by the SGPDA to tap central funds from the National Fisheries Development Board also failed to take off with tender to engage a consultant going a begging.
In fact, all proposals to tone up basis amenities in the market are literally stuck up in the muck.
