PANJIM: Activist Wilbur Ticlo has warned of dragging Salvador do Mundo sarpanch Sandeep Salgaocar and two others to court for making defamatory statements against him.
Lawyer Olavo Albuquerque, residing in Mumbai, had lodged a complaint against the sarpanch for allegedly assaulting and pushing him during a site inspection in the village, to which Salgaocar charged that a conspiracy has been hatched by Ticlo. Porvorim Rising general secretary Suraj Borkar had questioned the interest of Ticlo in the case.
At a press conference on Monday, Ticlo denied the allegations against him stating, “One Sandeep Vazarkar, Agnelo Pereira and Sandeep Salgaocar have made defamatory statements and false imputations which beyond any doubt was to defame me.” He challenged them to prove the allegations while arguing that false statements are without any basis with the sole intention to lower his esteem and morale.
As per the case details, the Panchayat had issued a notice to Mumbai resident John Menezes based on his complaint dated June 11, 2018 and the site inspection was fixed for September 27. The lawyer said he was assaulted and pushed by the Sarpanch for no reason.
