Addressing a party convention, Patel said that like-minded parties should work together to bring about major change at the polls.
Patel said that NCP was ready for an alliance with the like-minded parties, but if no one wants a tie up with his party, then, it would fight the elections alone and bring about a revolutionary change. Patel also threatened to field candidates in all 40 assembly seats.
Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narandera Modi for saying that India has changed, Patel said, “Nothing has changed in Goa in the last five years. Due to mining ban, people are in debts; there has been decrease in arrival of tourists due to breakdown in law and order.”
Jose Philip D’Souza, NCP Goa unit president, announced that Nelly Rodrigues has been appointed as president of the women’s wing of the party, while Parshuram Shetye has been named as spokesperson.
Sending a defiant message to the leaders who are leaving the party, D’Souza said that even if 90 percent of the leaders leave the party, NCP was capable of filling up the vacancies with fresh blood.
The convention was also attended by Devanand Naik, Abhijeet Dhargalkar, Surendra Sirsat and Sanjivani Pande.
