Will play, but in 2017, says Caitu

MARGAO: Benaulim MLA Caitu Silva has said that he will definitely accept Goa Vikas Party supremo Mickky Pacheco’s challenge to prove his standing in Benaulim in the 2017 Assembly election.

“Why is Mickky or the GVP challenging me when I am not contesting the zilla panchayat election? This is Honey’s election and not Caitu’s election. I will prove myself in Benaulim at the next Assembly election”, Caitu said, while reacting to Mickky’s challenge to the MLA to get Honey elected in Benaulim.
Questioning GVP’s decision not to support Honey’s candidature when the party had finalised him as its candidate, he said the GVP leadership should stop supporting sitting ZP member Maria Rebello in the election. “I want to say that both Churchill Alemao and the GVP are supporting Maria’s candidature. They are playing their role to get Maria elected. If Mickky has not fielded a candidate, he should also stop supporting Maria”, Caitu said.
Maria Rebello, however, firmly denied Caitu’s charge, saying the statement is false and baseless. “I am a people’s candidate and I have not taken the support of any political party for my candidature. But, if any political party or individual leader want to support my candidature, they are most welcome”, she said.
