VASCO: Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha has assured to take up the issue of repairing the old drains in Zuarinagar with the higher authorities.

It is pertinent to note that during monsoons the residents face problems due to damaged drains which tend to overflow.
Addressing media persons, Saldanha said she has noticed that the old drains in the Zuarinagar area are in bad shape and during rains they overflow into hutments causing problems to the children and the elderly. These structures have electricity connections and such flooding into the hutments and houses due to the overflowing drains could cause mishaps.
The Cortalim legislator said as per her knowledge the panchas who were willing to undertake repair work of these old drains have been seeking permission from the comunidade only to carry out repairs of the existing drains. Unfortunately, the permission for the same work is not yet received.
