PANJIM: Western India Shipyard Workers Union has demanded the release of their salaries that have not been paid for the past 10 months and asked the government to resolve the issue after intervening in the matter.
Speaking to the media in Panjim, union leader Ajitsing Rane said the shipyard’s functioning is at a halt and more than 350 workers have not been paid wages for the past few months.
“There is complete negligence from the government whereas if the company was not ready to operate or if it was at a loss then the Goa government should have come with a solution to get it under Goa Shipyard Limited,” Rane said.
