With Ayurveda & Naturopathy, Goa can take tourism to newer heights: PM

Says All India Institute of Ayurveda, Goa campus will play a crucial role in this direction; separate AYUSH Ministry dedicated to Ayush doctors in Goa soon: CM; Sonowal says AIIA, Goa campus will be developed into a wellness hub of Ayurveda promoting medical value travel

PANJIM: Stating that rising popularity of Ayurveda lies in yoga tourism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that with Ayurveda and Naturopathy, Goa can take its tourism to newer heights. 

“The rising popularity of Ayurveda and Yoga lies in tourism too. Goa is already a hub of tourism and with Ayurveda and Naturopathy; it can take tourism to newer heights. All India Institute of Ayurveda, Goa campus will play a crucial role in this direction,” Modi said while addressing the valedictory function of 9th World Ayurveda Congress and AYUSH Expo 2022 at Campal-Panjim. 

On the occasion, Modi virtually inaugurated and dedicated over Rs 1000 crore Ayush infrastructure to the nation in form of three institutes- All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Dhargalim-Pernem, Goa, National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM), Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh and National Institute of Homeopathy (NIH), Delhi. 

The Prime Minister said that the Union government has already started Research Portal for evidence based data in AYUSH.  He announced that the country will have National AYUSH Research Consortium soon. 

SEPARATE AYUSH MINISTRY: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that the Goa will soon have separate AYUSH Ministry dedicated to Ayush doctors in the State, while highlighting the rich Indian traditional medicine.

He made this announcement at the valedictory function of the 9th WAC, in the presence of the Prime Minister and Union Minister for AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal. 

The Chief Minister also announced that Goa will take every opportunity of G20 meet, scheduled in Goa to promote and achieve Swayampurna Goa 

initiative. 

AYURVEDA WELLNESS HUB: Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced that the newly inaugurated All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa campus will be developed into a wellness hub of Ayurveda promoting Medical Value Travel (MVT). 

The Prime Minister virtually dedicated AIIA, Goa campus set up in Dhargalim in Pernem taluka to the nation. 

Sonowal said Goa campus is a satellite institute of AIIA, Delhi and will work to provide the highest quality facilities for UG, PG and post-doctoral streams in the aspects of education, research and patient care services through the ayurveda system of medicine.
