MARGAO: The Margao ODP is set to take centre stage again after the much awaited South Goa Planning & Development Authority has finally been formed. None of the Councillors of Model Margao of Digamber Kamat have found space in the authority except for Digamber himself.
The new Chairperson of the Authority, Renuka D’Silva, told the media that “To serve the cause of Goenkaarponn and Goem you only need to be a Goenkaar and don’t need to be a professional in the field of Town Planning and Development.”
On Margao ODP, Renuka said, “Heritage is integral part of the principles of the Goa Forward party and we will resolve to protect the heritage and architecture of the town with consent of the civic body and people.”
She also said that Margao has an acute parking problem due to unscrupulous builders who have left no space for parking. The Committee will look into it and revisit it if required all the occupancies with the enforcement of the post occupancy audit of the buildings as told by the TCP Minister.
She has also promised to protect the lung spaces and green belts of the Margao town like the Monte Hill and others for posterity.
