PANJIM: Margao Town Police today booked Bharti Shirodkar from Maina Curtorim for forgery and counterfeiting following a complaint lodged by Margao Municipal Council Chief Officer Johnson Fernandes. Police Inspector Kapil Nayak while disclosing that investigations are on said they will summon the accused to record her statement.
Johnson had lodged a complaint with the Margao Town Police on February 13 that some unknown persons had prepared a fake “Non Availability Certificate” which was purportedly signed by the Sub-Registrar at the MMC.
The signature was a forged, he added.
one and not that of the Sub-Registrar and also pointed out that the stamp what was used on the certificate was not the original used by the office of the Sub-Registrar.
The said non-availability certificate was received by the MMC through the court that had directed the sub-registrar to register the birth of Bharti on the basis of the Non-Availability Certificate attached by her to her application.
After investigating the case, Kapil Nayak has come to the conclusion that there is a forgery involved. “The said Bharti is supposed to have born in 1966 while the Sub-Registrar’s office at MMC started functioning from 1971, hence there is no way the Sub-Registrar could have issued the non-availability certificate,” he said.
The case is registered under Sections 465, 468, 471, 473 of Indian Penal Code read with Section 34 of the IPC.
