A woman was seriously injured after she was allegedly stabbed multiple times inside the Government Hospital and Research Centre at Tuye in Goa on Tuesday, triggering panic among hospital staff, patients and visitors. The accused was overpowered by people present at the scene before being handed over to the police.
According to preliminary information, the victim, a female employee at the hospital, was attacked with a knife while she was on the hospital premises. Eyewitnesses claimed that the assailant stabbed her four to five times before she collapsed. Hospital staff and bystanders immediately rushed to her aid and managed to restrain the accused before alerting the police.
The injured woman was shifted for emergency medical treatment, where doctors are attending to her condition. Her current health status has not yet been officially disclosed.
Police reached the hospital soon after receiving information about the incident and took the accused into custody. Officers have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and are questioning the suspect. Authorities are also examining whether the accused and the victim knew each other or if the assault was the result of any prior dispute.
