Work on Vasco CO bungalow to start soon

VASCO: After over three and half years delay, the long pending signature project at old Chief Officers bungalow by Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) is likely to start soon as MMC has decided to resolve all issues pertaining to the project design for which the foundation stone was laid on July 2013 by then Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar
Speaking to reporters after concluding standing committee meeting of the council on Tuesday, MMC Chairperson Deepak Naik informed that besides having discussion on the draft budget for 2017-18 for council approval, standing committee also had a discussion on the pending work of Chief Officer’s bungalow which is estimated to cost Rs 4 crore.
“We had discussion on the draft budget for 2017-18 and we have cleared the same so that the same will be tabled before council meeting scheduled to take place on March 21, 2017. At same meeting some members raised the issue of pending signature project for which MMC has already issued tenders. As per earlier plan, the ground plus five storied building had parking provision on two basement floors which is not feasible so we have now decided to change the plan and have only one basement parking provision so that the project could take off. We have already asked the project consultant to make changes as per revised plan and once plan is ready, work would then start shortly,” Naik told reporters.
Commenting on the pending work of renovation/repair of municipal administrative building which is a heritage structure, Naik said, “We have already issued tenders for the project and even work order has been issued to contractor. We had some minor internal changes so we have already communicated to the consultant.
