PANJIM: The CCP Employees Union on Wednesday held a demonstration outside the Corporation of the City of Panaji office pressing for their charter of demands, including regularisation of services and hike in medical allowance. About 677 contract and permanent workers are part of the Union.
Speaking to media persons, union leader Ajitsingh Rane said the workers demands are pending before the Mayor and Commissioner since July. “We have asked that the services of all those workers who are on contract basis for decade now be regularised,” he said.
A hike in the medical allowance from Rs 4000 to Rs 7000 per month is another demand; he said adding that CCP is the only municipality that grants Rs 4000 medical allowance while other civic bodies give Rs 6000 per month.
Rane said that CCP has also abolished promotions for these workers and they have demanded that it be reintroduced. The demonstration will continue on Thursday and the union members will also decide their future course of action.
