Works of Rs 9 cr underway in Quepem: MLA

CURCHOREM: Quepem MLA Chandrakant Babu Kavalekar, on Monday, announced that developmental works of around Rs 9 crore are underway in his constituency. 
Speaking to Herald after inaugurating the hot-mixing and road-widening work from Cotta Amona to St Francis Colony in Quepem, Kavalekar said that he had already completed most of the work with the cooperation of the people, which he had promised during the last Assembly election. 
“The hot-mixing and road-widening work at Amona, estimated at Rs 2.5 crore, will be completed within a month. Some roads in Quepem under the QMC jurisdiction have already been hot-mixed and the remaining roads will be completed before the monsoon by spending Rs 2.4 crore,” said Kavalekar. 
According to him, the work on two other major projects is in progress. He said, “New roads from Khola to Barxem and Popoidando to Kheddem, under the panchayat, are being built at an estimated cost of Rs 5.50 crore.” He said that a major project that he had promised to Betul residents was to construct a retaining wall along the Betul river from the Betul panchayat to Costa Waddo.
