MARGAO: The Margao councillors took the civic administration to task for its “slow working” and failure to execute developmental works on time, at a meeting held on Tuesday.
The councillors complained that they were facing the ire of the people for the administration’s failure to carry out development works.
The municipal engineer informed the meeting that he was also holding the charge of Canacona municipality, hence, was loaded with works. To compound to his work load, the engineer complained that there weren’t enough typists and printers at the Margao Municipal Council.
On hearing the complaint, Margao Municipal CouncilChairperson Babita Prabhudessai issued instructions for purchase of three new printers for the Margao Municipal Council and also resolved to draft two more typists for the Administration.
The issue of pre-monsoon development works also came for discussion at the meeting where the councillors demanded that all the works be started and completed soon.
The pending developmental works – due to estimations and various other processes — were reviewed at the meeting.
The allocation of fund for the works has also been restructured, as the councillors have executed some of the works already. In addition to this, the WRD will also be taking up cleaning of nallahs in Margao.
“We have clubbed the sanitation fee with house tax; we will outsource the garbage collection, shortly; and I’m sure it will work well,” said the chairperson.
