World Day Against Child Labour observed

PANJIM: The Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights observedWorld Day Against Child Labour by organising a symposium.

 Padma Jaiswal, GSCPCR secretary along with Sushma Kirtani inaugurated the symposium and launched a sticker depicting a message on child abuse and child labour. 
Jaiswal asserted that those involved in child abuse and child labour can be arrested with active participation from society coupled with proper mass education and cooperation from law enforcing agencies. 
Collective efforts of all stakeholders are a must for stopping child abuse, she reiterated. 
She exhorted the people against employing children and not to keep mum on such incidents. B S Patil, faculty member, Salgaocar Law College highlighted the aspects of child abuse which take place particularly in beach areas across the State. Sushma Kirtani gave a detailed report on the problem faced by the NGOS while dealing with the problem of child labour. Students of Salgaocar Law College presented a report of their project on child labour in Mandrem pertaining to child labour and child abuse. Emidio Pinho gave a power point presentation on the incidents of child abuse and child labour.     Prachi Kandeparkar GSCPCR member compered.
