ANJUNA: The WRD Minister Vinod Palyekar has appealed to the commercial establishments in Anjuna not to play loud music beyond the prescribed decibels as it is a disturbance for the children studying for their exams and a nuisance to the locals. He also urged for a joint meeting with the panchayat, police and hoteliers to find a solution to this problem.
“I appeal to the people and restaurant owners operating in this area not to play loud music as the children are busy with examinations. I appeal to the panchayat to call for a meeting with the hoteliers, police and the villagers in order to find a solution to the loud music problem,” said Palyekar. The minister was talking to media persons on the side-lines after laying the foundation stone for the works of improvement and hot mixing of roads in Anjuna to the tune Rs 93 lakhs on Sunday.
The late night parties and loud music is creating a problem for the senior citizens as well as the students who are preparing for their board examination. In spite of several warnings this problem seems to be a never ending one.
Anjuna Sarpanch , Savio Almeida, said “The panchayat and the local MLA will work together to take up the development works of the village. We are not against anyone playing music but it should not be played during odd times. Early morning or late night this sound affects the children’s ability to study and the sleep pattern of others.”
