PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Committee has lodged a complaint with the Vigilance Department and the Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) alleging that Minister Milind Naik and Umesh Naik encroached into a government property and that the Mormugao authorities have refused to take action against the duo.
The Congress youth wing President Varad Maldolkar said that massive illegal hill cutting in the property bearing Chalta Numbers 21 and 22 were also ignored by the authorities.
“In the month of March 2018, there was activity of hill cutting at property bearing Chalta Numbers 21 and 22 (part) of PT sheet number 30 at jetty, Mormugao, which consists of a house being occupied by Umesh and Milind. There was a scaffolding of green net which prevented any person from seeing what activity was going on and there was no board or signs as to what development have been carried out. There were numerous complaints filed in this regard also to the flying squad of Collectorate, South Goa, but they did not attach any machinery or vehicles that carried out the excavation,” Maldolkar said in his complaint to both the government agencies on Wednesday.
Further, he said, while the site inspection of the total area is calculated at 160 sq mtrs, the land survey claims to have granted an area of 278 sq mtrs to the Naik family. Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Mardolkar, backed by party’s spokesperson Amarnath Panjikar, accused the minister of misusing his position to forge government records.
Urging the government to launch a probe against them, the party has also charged Mormugao Planning & Development Authority, Mormugao Municipal Council and Land Survey officials of working hand in glove with the minister to carry out the illegality.
“Hill cutting NOC granted for land that does not include the government land where the activity is carried out, illegal grant of development permission, no site inspection, no scrutiny of documents are among many frauds committed by all the concerned. We want that the vigilance and the ACB register a case and investigate them,” Mardolkar said.
