PONDA: Subash Vasudev Naik (32), a resident of new Housing Board Colony at Curti, was arrested on Wednesday for outraging the modesty of a girl and defaming her.
It is learnt that the accused has been harassing the girl since past many months using several fake Facebook accounts, due to which the victim girl and her family were in deep distress.
On learning about the plight of the victim and her family, some locals helped her to file a complaint at the Cyber crime cell.
According to police, the accused opened three fake Facebook accounts under different names and was posting defamatory messages about the girl since many days, thereby outraging her modesty.
Following this, the girl’s family approached the Cyber crime cell, which after preliminary inquiry transferred the case to Ponda police directing them to investigate the case.
Ponda PSI Yashwanth Mandrekar under guidance of PI Suraj Halarnkar conducted investigation and arrested the accused.
The accused is booked under Sections 509 and 354 of IPC.
