PANJIM: Gera School has lodged a complaint against unknown persons for duping a jobseeker by misusing the name of the institution. The complaint lodged at Old Goa Police Station and signed by the Principal C Joseph states that the school was approached by a person who was defrauded of Rs 41,000.
In the complaint, the principal stated that the victim alleged that an unknown person posing as a representative of the school asked the victim to deposit Rs 41,000 in his account towards various fees which would be refunded on joining duty.
In her conversation with the school, the victim alleged that she responded to an advertisement for a job position and after an interview over a conference call, had been issued an offer letter on the Gera School letterhead which bore the signature of the Principal. The victim was asked to share correspondence exchanged to verify the facts. The Principal stated that on scrutiny of the documents, it was found that the letterhead, the signature of the Principal and the offer made had been forged.
This scrutiny was followed by a complaint to the Old Goa Police station for an investigation to be conducted. Joseph confirmed that no job related advertisement had been issued by the school and no such interview had taken place over conference call between any one from the school and the victim.
The school cautioned job seekers to be vigilant as they don’t seek any compensation from the jobseekers. The Old Goa Police have confirmed receiving the complaint adding that they are inquiring into the matter.
