PONDA: An unidentified youth committed suicide by jumping into River Zugari from Borim Bridge, on Sunday.
According to police, the youth is of 25-28 age, was wearing a T-shirt and long pants. The incident took place at around 11.30 am.
After jumping into river, the youth, however, tried to swim ashore and even some canoe operators rushed towards to save him, but the youth drowned and disappeared in water.
On being informed, Ponda police rushed to the spot and fished out the body with the help of a rescue team.
The body has been sent to GMC morgue. “We are trying to identify the youth,” said PI Sudesh Naik.
