Youth killed, two others injured in Sancoale mishap

A youth was killed, while two others were seriously injured when two youth were knocked down by a speeding car opposite St Joseph Convent at Sancoale on Saturday evening.

VASCO: A youth was killed, while two others were seriously injured when two youth were knocked down by a speeding car opposite St Joseph Convent at Sancoale on Saturday evening.

According to Verna police, the mishap took place as the two Jharkhand youth, Sanjeev Kumar (25) and Ranjan Khalpo, both employed at a construction site behind the PITS Pilani campus, were returning to their room after purchasing vegetables from a Horticulture outlet opposite St Joseph Convent.

Police said Abdul Aziz Mullha (55) of Mangore Hill, Vasco, was travelling from Panjim to Vasco along with his daughter in a car (GA-06-D-3577), when the vehicle knocked down the two youth near St Joseph Convent. The car later hit a roadside tree.

While Sanjeev Kumar died on the spot, Ranjan Khalpo is in a serious condition at the GMC hospital in Bambolim.

Police said Mullha was also seriously injured and has also been admitted at GMC hospital, while his daughter Amara Begum sustained minor injuries in the accident.

Verna Police has registered an offence against Mullha under Section 279 and 304 A of IPC and PSI Hiru Kavlekar is investigating the case.
