The Development Planning Committee members of the South Goa Zilla Panchayat were elected on Tuesday. 8 Members of the Zilla Panchayat were elected unopposed after the ZP was unanimous on the names. The Zilla Panchayat Chairman will be heading the committee and the Zilla Panchayat Chief Officer will be the secretary of the committee.
The members Ulhas Tuenkar, Deepak Naik Borkar, Govind Gaonkar, Suvarna Tendulkar, Mohan Verenkar, Jaideep Shirodkar, Nelly Rodrigues and Shanu Velip have been elected as the members of the committee. The selected committee has 4 BJP, 1 MGP and 2 other members in it. The committee also has both the MPs of South Goa and also one member each of all the Municipalities of South Goa as primary members of the committee. The committee is formed every three years and is responsible to plan and decide on developmental works of the district and further send requirements to the State Government to execute the requirements.
The Committee will now meet after the Municipal elections after the new councils are in place.
