MARGAO: Zilla Panchayat Member representing Benaulim constituency Maria da Luz Rebello clarified that the work of dismantling the tiles in front of St Michael Church was estimated to cost more than providing new tiles there only because there was more work undertaken.
She said the work was titled “Removing tiles in front of St Michael Church” but besides that also included two other works namely providing rubble packing with hard laterite stone and also providing and laying cement and concrete.
While the removing of tiles was estimated to cost Rs 80,562, the rubble packing was estimated to cost Rs 1,03,888 and providing cement and concrete platform was estimated to cost Rs 2,60,317 and hence the estimate of that work was a little over Rs 4 lakh as against the estimated cost of providing new tiles that was Rs 3.80 lakh.
