HERALD: Why you are opposing TAXIGO CITY taxi service
Vinayak Nanoskar: See, government has fixed the rates of the taxis in the State; it is there in the official gazette. Despite that you are charging lesser than that and claiming to help poor people. Those who are using are not poor, how you are telling that and which poor are you helping? These are the same people from Bangalore. It is a back door entry for the taxi giants; it is a similar product of Ola and Uber. The government is also playing double game here.
HERALD:Do you blame government for allowing such taxi service in Goa?
Vinayak: Yes, it is an idea of government. Prior to this Nilesh Cabral GTDC Chairman had introduced ladies taxi service, what has happened to that everyone knows. Cabral, Nikhil Desai Director of Transport and former Tourism Minister were trying to get these services in Goa and that’s the reason why most candidates of BJP’s were defeated in last assembly election.
HERALD: So what do you intend to do. What would be your steps to pressurise the government?
Vinayak : If they are operating in Panjim and that is fine, but we won’t allow the taxi service in any other places. We will go on indefinite strike on December 22 during peak season. All taxis will be off the road. The government has not done anything to streamline our business or resolve all our issues.
HERALD: In this era of technology, what is your take on installing digital meters and GPS on the taxis?
Vinayak : We are ready to install both but not speed governors. We have taxis with all India permit, how will we operate intestate? You fix the rate of taxis, we are ready to install meters and GPS. Tourists were coming to Goa because of taxi operators in the beginning not because of street shows carried out by government in other countries. All this mess is created by Nilesh Cabral.
