‘Everything has been done in a transparent and judicious manner’

HERALD: How do you view the utility of the Sub-Committee of SGPDA and the present controversy surrounding the co-opted member of the Committee?
MAUVIN: The sub-committee members were co-opted by the MLAs and appointed by the PDA with an idea to have a wider consultation with the local area network. When they said they need more time, why do we need wider consultation by a co-opted member and the MLAs? Everything has been done in a transparent and judicious manner. I have informed my member secretary to go with a copy of a plan and have display what we have consulted.
HERALD:: How does SGPDA plan to go about the process now?
Mauvin: The government has been consulted by us and even they have agreed to provide people and adequate time. South Goa PDA is formulating a much better plan now.
HERALD: Why has there been a controversy surrounding the Sub-Committee member Dilip Prabhudessai?
MAUVIN: Initially things worked out fine. Suddenly, he gave a letter of dissent against the sub-committee report, which was prepared with so much hard work. We have later realised that there was a conflict of interest.  His wife happens to be the chairperson of Margao Municipal Council by virtue of that she is the member of the PDA, so how can DiliP (her husband) be the member of the sub-committee?
HERALD: How does the Sub-committee now go about with the report prepared by the trio?
Mauvin: Whatever happens is for good. I was anyways set to recommend for the removal of this member as I don’t want a single legal infirmity to come in the way of the process. We have a competent committee and now they will verify what changes he has done. It is better he is not there on the committee. He is not a member of the committee. The sub-committee has dropped him.
HERALD: What happens next? How much work of ODP is complete?
MAUVIN: There is no deadline for formulation of the ODP and the SGPDA has completed 100% work. We are trying to include and moderate maximum suggestions in the plan.
