‘I protested over the process’

HERALD: What is your primary objection to ODP at Ponda?
Mamledar: As we wanted to know the details of the proposals of alternations and conversions, I have basically protested over the process. We want to know all the names of those who applied for changed and the locations. It cannot be in selective stretches, it should be rational. ODP, 2016 ODP is still not implemented.
HERALD: Were you been kept in dark or not taken into confidence as Ponda, MLA.
Mamledar: There is no question of taking me into confidence, but the draft plan should have been placed prominently for the public and suggestions should have benn sougth for a vibrant and transparent plan of the town.
HERALD: What do you suspect in this hide-and-seek game played by SGPDA.
Mamledar: Off course there is interference. There are so many irregularities to cater to the real estate agents. I have seen Ponda and Margao plans and there are numbers of problem.
HERALD: As a local MLA what do you demand?
Mamledar: Place it before the public, let public suggest what is the best. Despite being an MLA, I was not able to get a glimpse of the draft plan to study it. I have put across my objections pointing out each and every aspect which has benn affecting people largely. I have objected to certain things in the interest of Ponda and Margao. It should be kept on hold till the due process was followed.
HERALD: Do you suspect any political interference.
Mamledar: I don’t think it has happened without the knowledge of political leaders. There is an interest of politicians and it is hurriedly done because of code of conduct which is supposed to come in force in a few days.
