Herald: 15-months to go as MLA, raring to go or lost ground to be made up?
Mickky Pacheco: Mickky unlike those other characters is not power hungry. I don’t want to become a minister. My political career will soon be 15 years old and I have never tasted defeated. My arrogance is gone and I don’t trust anyone. But I have got priests, nuns and religious with me and I’m definitely ready to go.
Herald: Will you contest from Nuvem or Cortalim or Benaulim in the next polls?
Pacheco: I was unbeaten at Benaulim and so was my candidate who contested as GVP member last polls, I am here in Nuvem and Cortalim, a few minutes away await me with open arms. They say they want to reserve Nuvem for some reason. I am open for anything.
Herald: What about your political plan, back to joining a national party, fate of GVP or starting a regional outfit?
Pacheco: I have been everywhere from regional parties to national parties. GVP is a party with no party supremo. Currently I am a member of the Assembly under the GVP and that’s it for today. But I have seen national politics and how they don’t care for the welfare of Goa and don’t help with bringing revenues. Never again, I will go for a national party.
Herald: How easy is it for Mickky to meet people after coming out jail?
Pacheco: I am open about it and can freely say I was behind bars for four months and ten days. I didn’t go to jail for selfish gain or looting hundred crores neither does Mickky have a single case of corruption. People filed cases against Mickky to suppress his rise but every case has made me stronger. Even in this incident my prayer right up to the Supreme Court was to examine the two witnesses which were not done. Fine, I surrendered then and spend time in jail in the bakery and was let out early on good behaviour.
Herald: Will you stake a claim for your ministership berth?
Pacheco: I want nothing from this government and want no association with them. Now people want Mickky and want to ride on my popularity. I don’t anyone and way to early to say anything. I am travelling from Saligao to Calangute to Canacona to Quepem Nuvem to Benaulim and getting poll ready. People don’t want this cheap Rs 3000 doles of the BJP government. Give a family member a job of RS 20,000. These doles of the government don’t sustain and feed families. This government from center to state has shown its communal colours and I don’t want any association with them. Parrikar –Parsekar government has done nothing in three and half years
Herald: Who will Mickky go with? Luizinho, Vijai, Alemao, Caitu?
Pacheco: All these fellows who you name have lied in their affidavits and don’t declare their assets. Also see their assets from 2002 to 2007 to 2012 and see the increase. All of them have accumulated corrupt wealth. I have no intention to go with any of them. They put money in inactive firms, they prop up activist and social activist who bring false complains against me. I am done with these characters. Mickky has always brought money from his abroad moneys and spend for the people of Goa. They blocked my accounts, froze my operations but I continue to serve Goa.
Herald:What about your fellow MLA Caitu in Benaulim and your bête noire Babashan in Nuvem?
Pacheco: As a child we always adored our father for what he did for us and we trusted him always and let him be the center of our lives. I never ditched my elders and parents. Here now Babashan is a kid and I was his political father. Now he wants to be my father? Definitely he will not succeed. Caitu on the other hand is ungrateful and forgot how I funded him and helped him during polls but he ditched me and ran away and wanted ministership. For me wining an election is not an issue but I want more people to trust Mickky and provide them the best.
