Avinash Fernandes left a corporate job to touch a chord, which is close to his heart. Inacio Noronha checks the beat

He has switched gears, tuned in to different grades to satiate his passion — MUSIC. Avinash Fernandes, 32, after completing his graduation in psycology and history, completed his MBA in marketing. But for him what matters most is his 8th grade in violin.
Avinash can eat music, sleep music, walk music. He is eloquent with the sax, flute, keyboard, mandolin and guitar. Despite having bagged a job with a pharma company, he gave it up to pursue his dream in music. His main aim is now to prepare budding musicians for Goa and mainly inculcate and imbibe in them the local music culture.
Avinash is currently teaching with Sonata Music School. He also has his own school in Paroda and Majorda (Genesis school of Music). He has been teaching and traning students for London’s Trinity College exams for the past 8 years now. He was inspired to “touch the right chord” by his late grandfather Jose Caetan D’cunha at the age of 13. He was trained by late maestro Fr Lourdin Barretto, Sir Antonio Velho. He picked up lessons in saxophone from Fr Rolland Lin Fernandes.
Avinash composed and arranged music for various Mando groups Like Kormonecho Naad, Curtorechim Salkam. One of his composed Mando “Fotkirim Sopnam” had won 3rd prize in the original music category at the 45th All Goa Mando Festival organised by Goa Cultural and Social Centre. Besides this, he has arranged music for various liturgical hymns and has performed for various concerts and also played for different choirs. 
Under his leadership, St. Xavier’s college has earned laurels in Mando festival, carol singing competion, folk music. He also performed in Mangalore with the Brass band for the 3rd Global Konkani Music Awards. Played saxophone for some concerts organised by TAG (Tiatr Accademy Of Goa) and for Tiatr competitions organised by TAG. Presently, he plays violin, flute, the sax, mandolin for a Goan Band called Rythmnation, which performs at weddings, fetes, corporate shows etc. He also has his own choir group “immaculate singers”. Avinash is also the choir master Of immaculate conception Church, Paroda. Having done a musical concert with over 140 members in Majorda dedicated To the  Maestro Anthony Gonsalves.
