Story: Brothers Cedric (Roseferns) and Sydney (Mario Menezes) live righteous lives. One fine day, the latter’s wife, Jennifer (Antonette de Maina), upset over several issues, returns to her father, Braz (Samuel Carvalho). What is the reason behind this? What will be the consequences?
Review:
The story revolves around two brothers – Cedric, who is a police officer, and Sydney, who is a lawyer by profession. After their respective marriages, both the brothers, along with their spouses, reside under one roof. Cedric and his wife, Cynthia (Roma), are blessed with a son, Nash (Filipe). As Sydney and his wife, Jennifer, aren’t able to have children, the latter envies the other couple, while Sydney accepts the truth and happliy takes on the role of godfather, treating Nash as his own.
On the sly, Jennifer’s father, Braz, is involved in drug trade and presumes that his son-in-law, who is a lawyer, will shield him. But both the siblings wish to fight corruption and they resolve to stand firm by the law.
As Braz does not have a free hand to carry forward his illegal activity, he seeks help from his daughter. Father and daughter make plans to bring in disunity among the brothers and their families.
What are the allegations made by father and daughter? Do they succeed in sowing discord among the siblings? Will their deeds backfire? What is the end result?
Samuel Carvalho’s monsoon tiatr ‘Nhoi Mogache Punn Rogtache’ focuses on unity among siblings, despite all storms and tempests in the family. It carries a message for members in a joint family, specifically daughters-in-law. Law is above all, besides dignity of labour has also been highlighted in the drama, with the fight against corruption.
Roseferns as the police officer and Mario Menezes as the lawyer stand tall throughout the show and both deliver in style. Roma and Antonette de Maina as spouses extend good support, but the costumes needed to be checked as per the situation and place.
Samuel Carvalho as the drug peddler is apt and is ably supported by Jr Reagan as the spoilt brat. As lovebirds, Filipe and Selfia are at ease with each other. Benny makes his brief entry at the police station with gusto.
Comedian Humbert, Selvy and Janet entertain as a comical trio and they carry a good dose of laughter pills. Comedian Agostinho is effective in the role of a policeman.
In the category of songs, Jr Reagan entertains with the opening song, followed by solos rendered by Benny, Roma, Cajetan de Curtorim and Saby de Divar. There are two duos by Antonette de Maina and Roma and Jr Reagan and Benny. A duet by Janet and Saby de Divar and a choral by Filipe, Humbert, Benny and Selvy receive encores. Decked up as circus clowns, there is also another choral by Humbert, Janet and Selvy.
With regard to stage sets and light effects, Anthony de Ambajim and Eliton respectively have done a fair job. They have been ably assisted by Tremson and Vicky.
