DULER: AA de Moira Sports Club scored a huge 5-0 win over Siolim Sodiem Sports Club in their first outing of the GFA’s 2nd Division League played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Saturday.
The Siolim outfit managed to hold the score goalless for the first session, however the second half saw them pelt down by goals.
In the 51st minute of play Savio Fernandes broke the deadlock for Moira when his placing strike from inside the 18-yard box found no answer from the rival keeper, 1-0.
Thereon Moira fired in goals at regular intervals through Sachanand Satelkar (60th and 82nd minute) Rudresh Tendular (72nd minute) and Darshan Gad (90th minute).
In another match at Quitula ground, Candolim Sports Club hammered Saligao Sporting Club by 6-1 margin.
At half time Candolim SC led by a three goal cushion.
In the 8th minute of play Kliebar D’Souza broke the deadlock when his powerful shot from outside the penalty area crashed into the back of Saligao nets to make it 1-0.
Canute D’Souza and Bapu Pednekar fired in two goals to give Candolim a 3-0 lead before the breather.
Saligao Sporting should have reduced the margin, however Nazri Sheikh was guilty of shooting wide from the penalty spot.
Changing ends, Candolim were all over their rivals and fired in three more goals with Canute completing his hat-trick while Richard Cardoz also got his name to the scorers list.
Ajay Diwadkar managed to reduce the margin from Saligao.
