PANJIM: Adarsh Gymnastic Academy, Margao excelled at the 3rd State Gymnastics Championship, organised by Goa Gymnastic Association in collaboration with Kreeda Bharati Goa, at Indoor hall of Swami Vivekanand College, Bori, recently.
Adarsh Gymnastic Academy clinched the titles in the girls U-6, U-10, U-14, open category as well as boys open category.
Kareena Kumawat and Krishnaraj Naik won gold medals in the girls and boys open category respectively.
Sumitra Jalora won silver and Sana Shaikh had to settle for bronze in girls open category while Sairaj Naik came second and Amit Pathak third in the boys open category.
Altogether 131 gymnasts participated in the individual as well as team events.
Chief guest Dr Nitin Borkar, an industrialist, inaugurated the function by lighting lamp.
Sudesh Thakur , president of Goa Gymnastic Association, in his welcome speech briefed about the importance of competition.
Dr Nitin Borkar boosted the moral of participants with his speech. He said that, though the players came there to compete, they should enjoy the game and play in a true sportsman spirit.
