CURCHOREM: Adarsh Yuvak Sangh, Saligao edged past Sai Avatar, Anjuna 10-9 via the tie-breaker to enter the quarter-finals of the 17th Holy Cross inter-village soccer tournament. The teams were locked goalless at full time.
The teams started off on an attacking note but their strikers could not convert.
In the tie-breaker, Jayesh, Govind, Paulo, Al-Mujain, Mubarak, Jose, Soma, Avelino, Trevor and Thomas scored for Saligao while Saprem, Drynan, Gautam, Kalpesh, Abhijit, Sujay, Akshay, Akxya and Aameer converted for Anjuna.
United Boys of Palolem grounded Sporting Club Davorlim 2-1 also to enter the quarter-finals. The teams were locked 1-1 at half time.
Davorlim were first to strike in the 15th minute through Venson Figueredo.
In the next minute, Palolem equalized through Alvito Miranda.
Davorlim came close to scoring on a couple of occasions but they were denied by the crosspiece.
In the second half, the teams shared equal ball possession but it was Alvito, who scored the match-winner for Palolem.
