FIFA Regional Development Officer Dr Shaji Phabhakaran, FIFA Technical Development Officer Vincent Subramanium, AIFF Technical Director Scott O Donell and I-League CEO Sunando Dhar visited the State on Wednesday to undertake an assessment exercise as part of the State association development project.
Chairman Dr Rufino Monteiro and Member Secretary Aleixo Da Costa welcomed the delegation along with the other GFDC officials.
Since GFDC’s main focus is grassroots development in the State, the delegation was keen to discuss how FIFA and AIFF could take forward this development project to the next level of youth development and thereafter to professional football.
The GFDC made a detailed presentation about its mandate, work and achievements in the last three years which was appreciated by the delegation. The main area of concern discussed was the need for proper structured youth development system in the State.
The delegation offered their support to GFDC in the areas of coach education and marketing. The meeting was also attended by GFA officials Jason Monserrate and Anthony Lobo.
