F Lalremsanga scored in the 79th minute and injury time to hand the Highlanders their second victory.
The first half was a drab affair which ended goalless to the disappointment of the fans. Salgaocar FC had trouble keeping up with their Aizawl counterparts who were having a field day as they retained most of the ball. The highlanders weren’t able to make an impact either as their attempts didn’t trouble the Greens custodian Mustafa Mousa Shaikh who even thwarted one penalty attempt from them.
Just three minutes into the second half saw some hope for the ailing Greens when an Aizawl FC player was shown a red card and sent off the field. With this boost the Greens made their attacks from Liston Colaco in the 60th minute that missed the goal by some inches.
Another attempt saw Mahesh Kumar take on the Aizawl keeper but his shot bounced off the latter. Despite the mounting pressure Aizawl colts managed to score on the counter through Lalremsanga in the 79th minute and he repeated the same in the dying minutes of the game to complete his brace.
