CHINCHINIM: Albert Developers, CDJ Ribandar overpowered Navelim Villagers Union 2-0 to move into the quarter-finals of Our Lady of Merces Cup football tournament organized by Sirlim Sports Club, at Our Lady of Hope Church ground, Chinchinim, on Wednesday.
In an exciting football frenzy encounter at the ground both teams went all out with an outstanding performance in the first quarter.
The deadlock for CDJ Ribandar was broken in the 5th minute by Diptesh Sawant’s rasping drive of Gautam Kankonkar’s connect.
There after Navelim Villagers through Anthony Pereira squandered a goal scoring opportunity in the 17th minute of Rovan Pereira’s supply.
Crossing over, CDJ Ribandar doubled the lead through Gautam Kankonkar in the 60th minute.
Navelim villagers tried their level best to come back in the match as they went full in trying to score goals but CDJ Ribandar defence wall stood as solid rock till the end of the match.
CDJ Ribandar will meet winners of Betalbatim SC and SC Cavelossim on August 6.
