SANGOLDA: Albert Developers were made to struggle by Margao Veterans who forced the match into the penalty shoot out which the former won 4-3, to set up a semi-final clash with Joe Cookies, Loutolim, in the Monte de Guirim Platinum Jubilee Veterans Football, at Sangolda Panchayat ground, on Sunday.
Both teams cancelled out each other and failed to score in regulation time. In the tie-breaker, Naguesh Shirodkar, Eklis Vaz, Joaquim Colaco amd Baptist D’Mello found the mark for the Merces team while Prakash Chari struck the cross-bar. For the Margao side, Claude Dias, Alfred Fernandes and Xavier Colaco scored, while Joao Araujo shot over the bar and Joaquim Fernandes was denied by stand in keeper Baptist D Mello.
Margao keeper Hanumant Pednekar played a big role in keeping the slate clean for his team in regulation time was adjudged the Man-of-the-match.
