CUNCOLIM: MB United Sports and Cultural Club, Murida-Cuncolim will hold their first All-India volleyball tournament under the aegis of Goa Volleyball Association in memory of late Xavier Dias, former volleyball player of Cuncolim, at Murida volleyball court, here, from April 19 to 22, at 8 p.m.
Two matches will be played on a regular basis. Volleyball teams from different parts of India will participate besides Goan teams.
Teams participating in the tournament are — Mangalore Strikers, Kerala, Bombay Port Trust, Pillai College, Mumba, Karnataka Strikers, Om Shivshambu, Merces, KK Boys, Santacruz Boys, Colony Boys, Mollem, MFC Mencurem, and Gurkul Boys, Pollem,
Organising committee member Oscar Martin said that at least three Goan players have to participate in the Goan teams. The winners will be awarded Rs 1lakh while the runners-up will bag Rs 60,000 besides other individual prizes. The semi-final losers will receive Rs 15,000.
The tournament will be inaugurated by Santacruz MLA Tony Dias.
