MARGAO: Ambelim Veterans rallied from behind to defeat Sun Moon Stars, Chandor 10-7 via the tie-breaker to storm into the quarter-finals of all-Goa Chinchinim Veterans football tournament, organized by Union of Chinchinim Veterans, at church ground, Chinchinim, on Thursday.
It was Ambelim Veterans who took the lead when Aldrin fired home from close range.
Quepem Veterans raised the tempo and Pascoal struck twice in quick succession to give his team a 2-1 cushion.
After the break, Aldrin struck second time to level the score. The equalizer boosted the morale of Sun Moon Stars players as they went all out and Pascoal who was in thick action restored the parity and also register his hat-trick.
In the penalty shoot out, Rajkapoor Lotlikar, Aldrin, James, Peter, Sandy and Benjamin Silva were on target for Ambelim Veterans while Reginaldo, Seby, Theophilo Dias, Egido D’Costa and Fiel converted for Sun Moon Stars, Chandor.
