ASSOLDA: Hosts Assolda Veterans shot-out Marc Caterers, Nuvem 5-3 via the tie-breaker to clinch the 3rd All Goa Assolda Veterans football tournament organised by Assolda Veterans Football Association, at Assolda ground, recently.
In the 15th minute, Assolda Veterans took the lead through a goal scored by Marcus Peixoto off Rosario Carvalho’s pass.
In the second half Mark Caterers came up with renewed vigour as Marcus Carvalho put them on level terms after receiving a pass from Johny D’Cruz.
Both teams failed to find the match-winner in regulation time.
In the tie-breaker, Assolda proved to be the better shooters.
Nilesh Cabral, Minister for Power and Chairman of GTDC, was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Suresh Bhise, Social worker of Cuncolim, Piety Fernandes, Balkrishna Hodarkar and Pobrino Menezes.
The winners were awarded Rs 30,000 while the runners-up received Rs 25,000.
