PANJIM: Assonora United thumped Football Club Sanquelim 7-2 to qualify for the play offs in the Goa Football Association’s Third Division League match played at Anjuna Gymkhana ground, on Wednesday.
Attoh Gaonkar opened the scoring for the Assonora side in the 15th minute however the Sanquelim side managed to draw level in the 20th minute through Pravin Kavekar.
Assignors then scored four more goal in less than 25 minutes with Siddesh Pednekar netting a brace while Gaurish Bugde and Prajot Arabekar scored a goal each as the teams went into the breather with Assonora leading the way 5-1.
Post resumption, Prajot netted twice while Rajat pulled a goal back as the scores read 7-2 in favour of Assonora.
In another match at Chapora ground, Football Club Siolim edged past Cunchelim Sports Club 4-3.
Cunchelim were a better side in the first half and scored thrice to put the rivals down in the first half through Rajkumar Prajapati, Shivanand Naik and Santosh Pawar.
At half-time Cunchelim SC led 3-0, however, Siolim side came back stronger and took the second half by storm as they netted four goals with Sudin Shirodkar scoring a brace while Rohan Torsakar and Siddhant Shirodkar scored a goal each. Both the teams qualified for the play-offs.
At Curtorim ground, Guirdolim Club held Maina Sports Club 3-3.
The scores were 3-1 in favour of Maina SC at half time with Nelister Silveira scoring a brace and Sunny Fernandes netting a goal for the Maina side while Jhonson Gomes pulled a goal back for Guirdolim.
Guirdolim bounced back and grabbed two more goals through Irfan Yadwad and Benny Peixoto to level terms for Guirdolim Club.
Guirdolim SC qualified for the play-offs.
Elsewhere at Artificial turf ground, Navelim Sporting thrashed Dramapur SC 8-1.
