RAIA: Augustias Sporting Club, Pomburpa, got the better of Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, 5-3 via the tie-breaker in 23rd Vagator Soccer tournament at Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club ground, Monday.
Oratory went into the attack and a cross from Elroy Barreto found Michael Dias whose shot was saved by Pomburpa goalkeeper Naved Almeida. Augustias took the lead in the 10th minute when a through ball from Abraham Fernandes went to Rupesh Patil who scored with a neat placement.
In the second half Oratory kept the Pomburpa goalkeeper Naved on his toes as he saved Elroy Barreto’s try off Richie Vaz in the 38th minute. In the 47th minute yet another brilliant save by the Pomburpa custodian denied Richie.
Anford of Agustias had a wonderful opportunity to double their lead but he missed a sitter. Oratory threw everything in the attack and found the equalizer in the 61st minute. A shot by Michael Dias was saved by Naved but the rebound fell at the feet of Hanslum Futardo who found the back of the net.
Abraham, Snedan, Carlton, Harsh and Rupesh netted for Pomburpa while Roque, Michael and Charles converted for Oratory. Richie failed to score.
The man-of-the match prize was awarded to Naved Almeida of Augustias by Domnic Pereira.
